Our client in Irving, Texas is seeking a skilled IT Systems Administrator to design, implement, and maintain IT asset management (ITAM) solutions across their organization. This role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the effective management of hardware, software, and IT resources while driving governance and automation within our IT infrastructure.
The IT Systems Administrator will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, configure ITAM platforms, integrate discovery tools, and develop processes for asset tracking and lifecycle management. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with expertise in IT asset management platforms, data integration, and process automation.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Asset Management Implementation
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business and technical requirements for IT asset discovery, compliance, and lifecycle management.
- Configure ITAM platforms (e.g., Freshservice, Ivanti Neurons, ServiceNow, Device42) to integrate with CMDBs, procurement systems, and service desks.
- Lead implementation efforts for new ITAM platforms or major updates to existing solutions.
- Define and enforce processes for asset onboarding, assignment, utilization, maintenance, and decommissioning.
· Integration & Automation
· Configure, integrate, and manage discovery tools (e.g., SCCM, Tanium, JAMF, Intune) to ingest data into ITAM systems.
· Develop and maintain scripts and APIs (e.g., PowerShell, Python, JavaScript) for automating data collection, reporting, and compliance enforcement.
· Ensure proper integration between asset records and IT service management (ITSM) processes, such as incident, change, and request management.
· Compliance & Governance
· Maintain adherence to software licensing requirements, hardware lifecycle policies, and financial audit standards.
· Implement dashboards and controls for real-time visibility into compliance, asset utilization, and inventory gaps.
· Provide technical guidance to procurement, finance, and security teams on asset tracking and usage practices.
· Process Improvement & Training
· Develop policies and procedures for IT asset lifecycle management to improve ITAM maturity across the organization.
· Deliver training, documentation, and knowledge-sharing sessions to build awareness and expertise in IT asset management.
· Act as the primary technical point of contact for ITAM-related projects and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 3–6 years in IT asset management, configuration management, or ITSM/ITOM roles.
- Platforms: Proficiency in at least one ITAM or CMDB platform (e.g., Freshservice, ServiceNow, Ivanti Neurons, Flexera, Device42, Lansweeper).
- Discovery Tools: Hands-on experience with SCCM, Tanium, JAMF, Intune, or SNMP tools.
- Frameworks: Familiarity with ITIL practices, particularly around asset and configuration management.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in communicating technical concepts effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: ITIL v4 Foundation, ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist, or similar.
- Technical Skills: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, JavaScript) and REST APIs.
- Software Asset Management (SAM): Understanding of software licensing models (e.g., per-user, per-core, SaaS tracking) and SAM processes.
- Technical Writing: Ability to create technical documentation and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
