Our client in Irving, Texas is seeking an IT Systems Administrator. Our client isone of the nation’s largest electrical solutions distributors and product suppliers, and they are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to design, implement, and maintain technologies supporting internal and external users. The IT Operations team manages data centers, cloud platforms, and the IT infrastructure powering more than 700 locations nationwide.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data center infrastructure and Microsoft technologies. As our client continues to grow, they are committed to hiring top-tier talent to support their long-standing success.
This role works closely with management, IT operations, software development teams, the IT help desk, and IT project managers to implement and maintain IT systems and network environments.
Reports To: IT Operations Manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience across IT engineering and operations, including critical production environments, LAN/server administration, virtualization, email systems, backup solutions, monitoring/alerting, storage management, desktop support, and Active Directory/identity management.
- Strong commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels, including clerical staff, operations, developers, senior management, and vendors.
- Proven troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform well under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to operate personal computers and related peripherals.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating technical information in English.
- Physical ability to lift 25 lbs., climb stairs, and sit for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing virtualized systems for private or hybrid clouds, particularly with VMware, Azure, and AWS.
- Proficiency in provisioning and configuring resources in virtualized environments; experience with Microsoft web/app/database stacks is a plus.
- Strong understanding of identity management, multifactor authentication, host-based security, security event management, and zero-trust network architecture.
- Ability to research system issues and evaluate new technologies.
- Strong knowledge of security appliances such as firewalls.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts with experience in LAN/WAN design, administration, and troubleshooting.
- PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills for developing documentation and communicating with both technical and non-technical users.
- Experience using ticketing systems for service requests and change management.

Essential Job Functions
- Collaborate with engineering and operations staff to design IT infrastructure solutions that meet security and configuration standards.
- Provision hardware and configure software to meet organizational needs while adhering to IT policies and standards.
- Ensure the reliable operation of systems and software.
- Assist with daily administration and ongoing maintenance of data center systems and hardware.
- Provide 2nd- and 3rd-level support, respond to incidents and requests, deliver status updates, and track work using approved tools.
- Develop, configure, and maintain server and workstation images and templates.
- Design and support business continuity strategies, maintain backups, and ensure systems meet defined SLAs.
- Research systems and software products to support recommendations, budgeting, and procurement.
- Assist senior engineers and IT managers with developing, updating, and documenting IT infrastructure standards and policies.
- Create and maintain system runbooks, configuration documentation, and procedural guides.
