Our client in Richardson, Texas is seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Buyer to support procurement operations for a leading manufacturer in the electronics, appliance, and electrical industry. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and ensuring the timely delivery of components to support production schedules. The ideal candidate has experience purchasing electronic or electrical components in a manufacturing environment and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase raw materials, electronic components, electrical parts, and production supplies to support manufacturing operations.
- Manage supplier relationships, including pricing, lead times, quality, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate costs, contracts, and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent production shortages.
- Create and manage purchase orders, expedite deliveries, and resolve supplier issues.
- Collaborate with Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Operations to ensure material availability.
- Analyze purchasing trends and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ERP system data.
- Support new product launches by sourcing materials and qualifying suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and supplier quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of purchasing or buying experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience purchasing electronic, electrical, or appliance components strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, or similar).
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
- APICS, CPSM, or CPSD certification is a plus.
